Embroidered stars and sewn stripes, not a print.

A 3 by 5 ft flag in fade-resistant polyester with individually embroidered stars, sewn stripes, a white canvas header and brass grommets. Built to be flown outside rather than pinned to a wall.

The hoist edge, where a flag lives or dies.

The difference between a flag that lasts a season and one that lasts years is in three places: whether the stars are stitched or printed, whether the stripes are sewn or dyed, and whether the hoist edge has a proper canvas header. This one is stitched, sewn and headered.

What you're getting

Every star is embroidered

The stars are individually stitched into the canton, not printed onto it. Stitched stars keep their edges and their white after a summer of sun, where printed ones go soft and grey.

Stripes are sewn, not dyed

Each stripe is a separate panel joined with a stitched seam, which you can see and feel across the flag. Sewn stripes hold colour separation and give the fabric something to tear against in wind.

Canvas header and brass grommets

A white canvas strip runs down the hoist edge carrying two brass grommets. That header is what takes the load. A flag without one tears at the grommet on the first hard day of wind.

Fade-resistant polyester

Woven polyester, which handles sun and rain better than cotton and dries faster. It still fades eventually, because everything flown outdoors does, but it is the right fabric for the job.

Questions

Can it fly all year?

It is built for outdoor display, and the header and brass grommets are the parts that make continuous flying survivable. Even so, a flag flown continuously in strong wind will wear at the fly end. Bring it in during storms and it will last far longer.

How do I wash it?

Cold water, mild detergent, hang to dry. Do not put it in a dryer and do not bleach it. Repair small fly-end fraying early, before it runs.

Will it fit my pole?

It has two brass grommets on the hoist edge for standard clips or snap hooks. A 3 by 5 ft flag suits a residential pole of roughly 15 to 20 ft, or a shorter house-mounted pole.

Is the fabric heavy enough for wind?

It is a polyester flag rather than a heavyweight two-ply, so it flies readily in light air, which most people want. In a consistently windy spot a heavier flag will last longer.

Fade resistance is a manufacturer claim; any flag flown outdoors will fade with sun exposure. Grommet count and header construction are as shown in the product photography. Note that the photographs on this page are our own product photographs rather than generated imagery, so two of them are lower resolution than our usual standard - accuracy on a flag matters more than sharpness.
